Sew Fresh Modern Sewing and Quilting Group

If you live in the North Texas area you should check out the newest modern sewing/quilting group in Fort Worth. I went to my 1st Sew Fresh meeting last month and saw so many great ideas. I am hoping to start a Modern Quilting Group within the Sew Fresh group. If you live in the North Texas area let me know, I'd love to meet my blog followers.

Sewing Sunday

I am finishing my first week with a sewing machine that actually works. Today I finished a wallet that is really cute. I used the Atkinson Designs Cash and Carry pattern. I find the patterns they publish are very easy to follow. I am giving a wallet away to a lucky follower next Sunday. See below for details on this fun give-a-way.

I also got some work done on a lap quilt top that I have been working on. It's funny how I decided on my color placement, but didn't envision the finished top like this at all. Turns out I love the color pattern that this ended up being.

It was sew easy!

Yesterday while taking a weekend quilting class my old old old sewing machine broke, and I can say that I was not sad to see it go. Luckily, the store I was at sells Berninas so I walked away with a great deal on a new machine. Then I remembered that I had signed up for a zipper bag class at another local store. It was tons of fun and I learned lots about using my machine (like where the reverse button was...that one had us stumped for a while). Heres a pic of my new machine and the bag :)
