TERRIFIC - AND IT SURE WAS...

First came WHAM! in June 1964, which was followed nearly two years later by SMASH! (February 1966.)

Eleven months after that (January 1967) came POW!, with FANTASTIC following hot on its heels within a few weeks. (February 1967.)

Not too long after that, TERRIFIC, the final entry in the series known as POWER COMICS, made its debut in April 1967.

Terrific was the shortest lived of the 'big five' (to borrow a DC THOMSON term) published by ODHAMS PRESS, lasting a mere forty-three issues before being merged with Fantastic.

However, before its demise, it bestowed upon its readers such gems as SUB-MARINER, THE AVENGERS, DOCTOR STRANGE and a British produced strip (by a foreign artist) called THE TOYS OF DOOM.

Here, now, in celebration of this classic comic of the '60s, is a cover and pin-up gallery which will be continued from time to time in future posts.

Don't hold back - feast your eyes on this awesome artwork.

Incidentally, whatever back-page pin-ups weren't mere reprintings of original MARVEL art were usually drawn by BARRY (WINDSOR) SMITH when he was only about eighteen years old. Keep your eyes peeled for future posts and have fun seeing if you can tell which ones were drawn by his own fair hand.
