E-Waste
E-Waste, aka The Velveteen Rabbit
We love our pc's, mac's, I-pod's,cell phones etc.... but they grow old/obsolete and we get a shiny new e-device. Then what should we do with the old one. A wonderful solution is near at hand for San Franciscans. James Burgett runs the ACCRC, the Alameda County Computer Resource Center.
They accept e-waste at one end of their building, sorting through what can be rehabilitated, what will be used as "organ donors", and what is truly waste. The ratio of what goes in as to what actually goes out to the landfills is low. They emit very little landfill waste at the other side. James' staff is largely made up of people who have been in need of their own recycling of their lives. But go on over to CURRENT to see for yourself. Then check the Official site for ACCRC.
And here for "Toxic Villages".
More Current E-Waste Pods can also be found here.
Merci de l`e'tude avec moi.
Thank you for learning with me.
Hugs,
Mary
