Level 7 Final project sep-dec 2011

Well, we got to the third term. Time to work on finishing the project. But what's the project about? well, we are designing a campaign for our most important event. "Chinita's Fair". This time the products created for the campaign will be exhibit it in our URBE EFL Center in SL.

An advertising campaign is a specific course of action designed to advertise a company, cause, or product that employs an intentional and carefully coordinated series of marketing tools in order to reach the target audience. The end purpose of any ad campaign is to boost awareness of the subject matter and generate demand. The exact structure of the advertising campaign will often depend on the nature of the product or cause and the target audience that the campaign is designed to reach.
While specifics vary from one advertising campaign to another, some of the same tools are used in just about any campaign. Both print and electronic media are often used to generate attention and enthusiasm for the subject of the campaign, often with the logical and timely launch of different tools at specific points in the overall campaign. While in time past, electronic media referred more to television and radio broadcasts, that component now includes tools such as online banner ads, text messaging, and email advertisements.

We have to thank professor Nuris Zambrano for the help she gave us in this project. On her visit to our class she left us some guidelines on how to work with a campaign:

The exhibition of the projects will take place in Second Life. Include the names of the participants and their avatars.

Students will post their projects in their blogs individually: products, description of the project, individual participation and their opinion of the project. Images and opinions of the experience in Second Life. Images of the Avatars and their names.

Well, this is going to be fun! See you in SL!

Meeting in british Council Isle point: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/British%20Council%20Isle/230/127/39
Well, now a litle info on the story behind the Quest:

Themes, events and characters of the Arthurian Legend
1. Arthur is a king of Britain who defeated the Saxons and established an empire over Britain, Ireland, Iceland, Norway and Gaul.
2. Characters related to King Arthur: Arthur's father Uther Pendragon, the wizard Merlin, Arthur's wife Guinevere, the sword Excalibur,
3. Arthur was born in Tintagel, his final battle was against Mordred at Camlann and his final rest is in Avalon.
4.  Lancelot and the Holy Grail and the Knights of the Round Table.
5. Arthurian literature thrived during the Middle Ages but waned in the centuries that followed until it experienced a major resurgence in the 19th century. In the 21st century, the legend lives on, not only in literature but also in adaptations for theatre, film, television, comics and other media.

Well, we'll tell you more about it..later-- Hope to see you all there!

And these are the photos of th eadventure...

Pionia Has got a blog!

Well, this is our first entry.. I knew Pionia would have to get a blog sooner or later... There are so many interesting things to blog about in Second Life.

Second Life... What's Second Life? many will ask.. According to their site: " Second Life is a free online virtual world imagined and created by its Residents. From the moment you enter Second Life, you'll discover a fast-growing digital world filled with people, entertainment, experiences and opportunity."

This is a great short video to tell you some basic things to go for it...

Second Life can be anything you want it to be.. But now, what should and educator do in SL? Play games? have an avatar? aren't those things for kids to play with? ... The answer is yes, and no.. Second Life is for everybody. An educators should profit from this great virtual world and be brave and ship off in an adventure in this new world.

As a matter of fact, They encourage educators to go inworld to meet other educators and learn how to teach classes, network, and interact with students in new and unique ways in the virtual world. The best part is--it's free.

The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), is one of the many vibrant education communities in Second Life, will help you discover education-related areas in Second Life through the New Educator Pilot Program, which offers many benefits and resources including:

  • Live "Docents" volunteer assistance during regularly scheduled hours
  • Scheduled tours, speaker series, and special events
  • Showcased destinations and educational uses of SL
  • Socials to learn from other educators about how they are using SL
  • Tools to enable your educational uses of SL
  • Additional tutorials to help you land on your feet
