Blog Action Day: October 16

It’s that time of the year again – get ready to blog for good, all at once, around the world, on a single day in October. Urbe Bloggers will join this adventure for the third time. So first le's look at what Blog Action Day is:

WHAT IS BLOG ACTION DAY?

Since 2007, Blog Action Day has focused bloggers around the world to blog about one important global topic on the same day. Past topics have included water, climate change and poverty.

This year, Blog Action Day will be held on October 16, which coincides with World Food Day, so naturally our 2011 theme is FOOD

Find out more about Blog Action Day

Food is something that we all share in common, but is distinct to each of our cultures. The way we produce, distribute and consume food is crucial to our shared future, and the unhealthy imbalance of food scarcity in developing world and food over-abundance in the developed world is unsustainable for us all.

Blog Action Day 2011 will be an opportunity to open the conversation about how food impacts all of us – individually and globally. Register your blog for Blog Action Day 2011 by clicking the link below:

Blog Action Day 2010: Water from Blog Action Day on Vimeo.

On their Blog action site they explain why he selected this heme for this year:

Why Water?

Right now, almost a billion people on the planet don’t have access to clean, safe drinking water. That’s one in eight of us who are subject to preventable disease and even death because of something that many of us take for granted.
Access to clean water is not just a human rights issue. It’s an environmental issue. An animal welfare issue. A sustainability issue. Water is a global issue, and it affects all of us.

Beds Are Burning - TckTckTck Campaign (time4climatejustice)

Taken from Wikipedia...

On October 2 2009, 60 musicians and celebrities from around the world released a free reworked version to highlight climate change issues ahead of the United Nation's talks in Copenhagen. Singers included Lily Allen, Simon Le Bon from the '80s group Duran Duran and Bob Geldof. The former UN secretary-general Kofi Annan, Archbishop Desmond Tutu and French actress Marion Cotillard also added their voices to the cover version. The song is part of Global Humanitarian Forum tck tck tck time for climate justice campaign and is a part of the greater "TckTckTck" project[3], which aims to draw attention to the urgency of the global warming crisis, by signing a "musical petition" with each download.

It's for the Earth is for our land........! Let's sing it out loud! keep on shining Love and Peace!

Blog Action Day! Save the world save your big house!!!

Blog action day? what-s that? another interesting question... well, here it-s the answer...
On October 15th - Blog Action Day, bloggers around the web will unite to put a single important issue on everyone's mind. Environment!!! What do you think about it? should we be concerned with what-s happening in the world?

Today in class, we talked about Blog Action Day and the environment..... We all know that Planet Earth is our big house and whatever happens to the planet is important to us. We are responsible for what happens in our house. Since the Earth is our house we should keep it clean and beautiful. Global warming is affecting our house. Ice is melting and the water level in seas and rivers is raising to a point that the weather is going extreme and extreme weather is causing a lot of damage and death all around our big house. What can we do to stop global warming?
  • Recycling
  • carpooling
  • stop polluting
  • act, care, be awared
  • Saving energy... turning off the lights when we go out a room... for example
This is what "Arthus" a 14 year-old student from Vermont has to say about environmental ideas.... Check it out!

Do you have more ideas? let us know by leaving a comment...
