Part of our yearly outreach for International Data Privacy Day. Your privacy is important to us and we'd like to share how we work to protect it.

At Mozilla, we try to give you as much control and collect as little information about you as possible. We are guided by six core privacy principles that help remind us that your interests come first and that we exist to stand up for you in a world where choice and control are too often at risk.

1. No Surprises
Sure, most of us like surprises, but not when it comes to what's happening with our data. At Mozilla, we only use and share information about you for your benefit and as spelled out in our notices. What you get for your birthday should be a surprise. What we do with your data shouldn't be.

2. Real Choices
In the beginning, the Web was simple — connected, open, safe. But as it grew, users faced new challenges, including a lack of choice. At Mozilla, we strive to give you options and make your choices clear. For example, we use Web analytics to help make our sites more useful, but if you don't want your session visit information on our websites to be collected and analyzed, you can use our opt-out mechanisms.

3. Sensible Settings
Some of us like to adjust settings, but others don't. At Mozilla, we strive to make it easy for you by establishing default settings that balance safety and user experience. For those who want more, you can adjust those settings and there are also plenty of add-ons that you can use to get even more control over your online experience, interactions and information.

4. Limited Data
Many people don't realize how much information is collected about them by websites and then used as a business asset. We do and we think it's wrong. We believe the Web is a shared public resource to be cared for, not a commodity to be sold. At Mozilla, we collect and retain the least amount of information necessary and we always try to put information in non-personally identifying forms when we can.

5. User Control
At Mozilla, an important part of our mission is to help people understand and control their personal information. For example, Mozilla Firefox offers a Do Not Track feature that when enabled tells advertising networks and other websites and applications that you want to opt-out of tracking for purposes like behavioral advertising. Also, you can always change your email communication preferences by clicking on the unsubscribe links at the bottom of each email you receive from us.

6. Trusted Third Parties
It takes a lot of work to bring you our many websites, products and services, but Mozilla can't take all the credit. We work with a number of third party service providers who understand our commitment to privacy and are under a written agreement to honor it. We don't take chances with your data and we don't let others take chances with it either.

Google takes account security very seriously, and we regularly provide our users with tips to help protect their Google account and their computer. To reduce the risk of becoming a victim of cyber crime, we recommend following these steps:

    Check for unusual access or activity in your account. Regularly review your account for unfamiliar or suspicious activity. If you have a Gmail account, you can see the last account activity recorded at the bottom of the page, including the most recent IP addresses accessing the account.
    Check for viruses and malware. Run a scan on your computer with trusted and up-to-date anti-virus software. If the scan detects any suspicious programs or applications, remove them immediately. Read more.
    Perform regular operating system and browser updates. Whether you use Windows, Mac OS, or another operating system, we recommend enabling your automatic update setting if one is available through your operating system, and updating when you get a notification. To manually check for browser updates in Internet Explorer, select the Tools tab and click Windows Update. In Firefox, just click the Help tab and select Check for Updates. Note that Google Chrome automatically updates to a newer version when one is released.
    Protect your password and enroll in 2-step verification. Change your password regularly and don't share it with others. We recommend changing passwords at least twice a year. Make sure you choose a password that contains a combination of numbers, characters, and case-sensitive letters to strengthen the security of your account. Read more. For an extra layer of protection, we recommend that you enable 2-step verification on your Google Account. 2-step verification requires a code from your phone – as well as your username and password – when you sign in. Watch this video to learn more.
    Guard against phishing. Never enter your password after following a link in an email or chat to an untrusted site. Instead, go directly to the site, such as mail.google.com or www.google.com/accounts/. Don't send your password via email or write it down. Google will never email you to ask for your password or other sensitive information.

If you use Gmail, here are some additional things to know:

    Check the forwarding and delegation settings in your account. Make sure your email is being directed properly. Check the "Mail settings" tab in Gmail for forwarding and delgation settings that grant others access to your account.
    Update your secondary email address, your security question, and provide a mobile phone for SMS-based account recovery. This will help you recover your account if you ever lose access to it. Make sure that you have access to the email address listed as your secondary and/or the mobile number to which an SMS-recovery message would be sent. Also, be sure the answer to your security question is easy for you to remember but hard for others to guess. Read more.
    Use a secure connection when signing in. By default, Gmail accounts use a secure HTTPS connection -- a setting to help protect your information from being stolen when you're signing in to a Gmail account on a public wireless network, like a cafe or hotel. You can view or change your settings at any time in Gmail or Gmail for Mobile. Read more.

Using public or shared computers presents security risks. If you must use a shared computer:

    Always sign out of your account when you're using public computers. Whenever you're done using your Google Account, click "Sign out" at the top right corner of the screen.
    Clear private data from your browser. Your browser may be set to save certain information. Be sure to clear that data, including passwords, cache, form data and cookies on a regular basis, especially right after the use of a public computer. Read more.

  Apple Computer, a multi billion dollar company that has revolutionized the way people communicate. Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak started Apple on a shoestring and went on to become American icons.


   Apple Computer was founded in 1976 by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak. While Wozniak provided the technical skills to produce the company's first computer, the Apple I, it's Jobs who became the face of the company.
    Origins

        Jobs met Wozniak in 1972 while they were working at Hewlett-Packard. In 1974, they joined "The Home brew Computer Club," a group of electronics enthusiasts interested in building home computers. While Wozniak considered computers a hobby, Jobs recognized their money-making potential, and convinced Wozniak they should build their own computer and start a business.

 After successfully producing the Apple I, Wozniak went to work on the Apple II and finished a prototype in fall 1976. Looking to produce the Apple II on a larger scale, they offered the job to Commodore, a company that was producing the CPU used in the Apple II, but executives showed little interest. Using his now legendary skills as marketer and promoter, Jobs raised $93,000 in seed money from investors and hired an ad agency to promote the computer. Apple was officially incorporated in 1977 and went public in 1980. In 2008, Apple generated $32.6 billion in revenue.

Do one thing well.

It’s really that simple. Narrow down what you do, and do it repeatedly. Learn, grow, improve, read, watch, do it some more. When you’re really good at that one thing, people will want to pay you for it, or to learn how you do it.

It takes a lot of focus and practice to get good at doing one thing, but I’ve found that if you truly love it, it’s not really work. It’s play. And I never complain about playing at something I love.

*. Keep the scope as simple as possible. You don’t need to do everything with this project. In fact, if you can just do one thing, that’s perfect. As small a thing as possible. Don’t redesign an entire city just work on one building. If the project starts to get complex or seem overwhelming, narrow the scope. Do less. It’ll help you get things done.

*. Practice Good Enough. Perfectionism is the enemy of completion. Nitpick and worry about getting it “just right”, and you’ll never get it done. Done is better than right. So if you start to nitpick and worry about perfect, say “screw it” and then just try for good enough. You can always make it better in the next version.

*. Make it public, Quick. Your goal should be to get your project in some working form out to your customers / readers / public As Soon As Possible. In as few steps, as Quickly, as easily, as simply as possible.

Imagine driving across a snow bank in the Alps with the fresh, icy wind in your face. 

I would trade anything and everything (not really) for this all-wheel-drive Ferrari. I’m going to say that this car doesn’t even look perfectly beautiful. 

In fact, that is why I love it: it doesn’t really care what you think and still give you the kind of performance only experienced by kings.
